Graduating from Manchester Medical School in 2011, Dr Wood has since embarked on a varied journey in the medical field. His career path led him through various hospital and community roles before honing his expertise in general and family practise. Driven by a thirst for knowledge, he pursued specialised interests in Hyperbaric/SCUBA Diving Medicine, Palliative Care, and Urgent/Emergency Medicine.
A Diver's Heart: Dr. Wood's affinity for diving goes back to 2003, when he qualified in Malta. Since then, he has amassed an impressive tally of over 1,000 dives across diverse locations around the globe. As a BSAC First Class Diver and Advanced Instructor, he holds qualifications not only from BSAC but also from PADI, TDI, and IANTD, showcasing his commitment to mastering various diving disciplines.
Bridging Passion and Profession: Dr. Wood finds great joy in combining his hobby with his vocation. As an active member of his local BSAC branch, he takes pride in imparting his diving knowledge and expertise to aspiring divers through teaching. Additionally, he runs regional First Aid and diving medical courses, ensuring that divers are equipped with vital skills for safety and preparedness.
A Pillar of Emergency Care: For the past 8 years, Dr. Wood has been a crucial part of the round-the-clock emergency cover for the North West Hyperbaric Unit. His dedication to assessing and treating divers suffering from Decompression Sickness and barotrauma-related injuries is unwavering. Beyond that, he brings his expertise to assess NHS patients for a wide array of conditions, displaying his versatility and commitment to public health.
